When I began refinishing furniture I was very conscientious about the chemicals in the products I was buying to work on projects.  Because the bulk of our refinishing takes place indoors I was very concerned about exposing my two little ones to harsh fumes and toxic chemicals.  I searched for products that were low fume, non-toxic, and natural to use because I didn't want my hobby and business to affect the health of my children.

Star of Bethlehem Wreath

The ladies in my husband's family always get together Thanksgiving weekend to make boxwood wreaths.  This year I decided to branch away from the typical round wreath and instead decided to make one in the shape of the Star of Bethlehem.


Here's what you will need:
  • 2 wire clothes hangers
  • boxwood branches
  • floral wire
  • wire cutters
  • pliers (needle nose would probably be best)
  • ribbon of choice


1.  To begin, unwind the wire hangers where they connect at the hook.  Bend each a little off center at the base of the hanger so when placed together they make a 4-pointed star shape.


2. Use pliers to twist the wires where they overlap to create your star.


3. Cut a bunch (you'll need a lot) of  3 inch-ish long wires. 


4. Cut/rip small chunks of boxwood and wire them around the wreath.  I found that they slipped around the wire a bit until you had a good base.  One way I thought of (after the fact) to help with the wired pieces slipping around is to put a bead of hot glue onto the wire hangers so that the wire you are using to attach the boxwood has something to catch to.


5. Work your way around the wreath adding small chunks of boxwood as needed until it is full.  Tie a bow at the top of the wreath to hang!


You could add berries, a big bow, ornaments, or anything else you'd like!  Do you like the wreath simple or would you add something else?  I'm toying with the idea of adding some berries for a little more color.

The auctioneer will introduce each item and give a brief description of the item including opening bid price, shipping, and approximate retail value. The bidding is then opened and the action begins. Each new bid is announced and when the bidding stops the auctioneer gives a first and second call just like a live (in person) auction! If there are no additional bids the gavel pounds. finding the right perspective: turning my gripes to praises

Why do we do it?  We have so many reasons to give thanks and yet we complain, and whine, and grump around feeding on and creating negativity everywhere we turn.  Approaching a holiday centered on giving thanks, I have been especially convicted of my ungrateful attitude.
 
I am so thankful for a God who loves me despite my sin.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I pray my spirit of complaint would turn to a spirit of thanks.  And, I resolve to start right now!
